Principal

Greetings Edmonds Families,

Welcome!  I am very excited to begin a new school year and I hope you are too!  I extend a special welcome to new families enrolled at Edmonds Elementary School.  As we begin this year, I have a few reminders:

 1.       The first day of school is as follows:

  • Grades 1-6: Wednesday, September 6
  • Kindergarten: Monday, September 11
  • Developmental Kindergarten/1st Grade (Mrs. Martin’s class): Wednesday, September 6.  The DK/1 class has an early dismissal at 11:00 am from September 6-8.

2.       School begins at 8:00 am.  Breakfast service begins at 7:30 am in the gym.  Students not eating breakfast should plan to arrive at 7:45 am when campus supervision begins.  Students are expected to line up in their designated lines, unless eating breakfast, until teachers welcome students into classrooms.

3.       We have two morning bells.  The first bell rings at 7:50 am when classroom doors open.  The second and most important bell rings at8:00 am to start school.  Students not in classrooms at 8:00 am will be marked absent or tardy when they arrive to school.

4.       Breakfast is served at 7:30 am in the gym by entering through the playground side doors.

5.       Safety is important at Edmonds.  Please cross streets at designated cross walks.  Adult crossing guards and student patrols will be at designated locations at 7:45 am.  Please be sure to wear a helmet if riding a bike.

6.       The top parking lot is for buses and parking lot parking.  Student drop-off is located in the lower parking lot behind the school.  Please drive carefully on school property and refrain from using your cell phone.

7.       It takes several days for a regular traffic flow to develop in and around the lower parking lot.  Please be patient, stay in the line of cars and drive slowly.  Thank you!

Please help me in welcoming the following new staff to Edmonds:

Katie Bilanko, 1st Grade
Olga Caffee, Counselor/Psychologist
Mary Fordham, Assistant Principal
Jessica Lunde, Learning Support
Marisa Gruhn, 5th Grade

I hope you enjoy the remaining days of summer vacation.  I’ll see you on the first day of school.

Regards,

Brett Hagen, Principal
